Personal questions don’t come up as often in calls, but there are some that callers ask about fairly regularly.

My Location

I’m Canadian who has lived in the province of Saskatchewan all my life.

Relationship Status

I’m married and have been for 40+ years.  He knows what I do but I keep the content of my calls confidential.  Fortunately, he’s not very interested in my work.

Hobbies

My hobbies are pretty quiet ones, but here you go:

  • reading (mostly mysteries and speculative fiction)
  • watching TV:  police shows, speculative fiction, standup comedy
  • listening to music:  blues, top 40, rockabilly, jazz, classical, Dixieland
  • individual sports:  walking, swimming, yoga, tai chi, working out
  • dining out with my husband
  • acquiring new cookbooks and recipes (mostly vegan)

Favourite Charities

Although of course I care about world hunger and the environment and multiple other causes, I can only support so many charities, so I have chosen the ones I feel most passionate about:

  • animal welfare:  my local Humane Society, cat rescues, dog rescues
  • adult literacy
  • Amnesty International

Personal Interests

You know what I’m interested in professionally, but sometimes callers ask about my personal interests.  I have two main ones.

Food

So many things connected to food are a huge part of my life:  buying new cookbooks, reading cookbooks, trying new recipes, and even buying groceries.  I’m enchanted by all the possibilities of an eggplant or lemons or a cabbage.

I prefer to eat vegan and have multiple vegan and vegetarian cookbooks.  My favourites are probably the following:

Words

Words and language in general fascinate me.

This includes learning about word origins or listening to other languages and absorbing the cadence of the sentences even if I don’t understand the words.

I do speak some French (although it’s rusty) and a wee bit of German.

I’m an introvert who loves nothing better than to recharge at home alone or with my husband and our cats.
